Upper Ottawa Valley OPP engaged in a high speed chase on Sunday.

OPP says it received a report around midnight about a vehicle being driven dangerously. The vehicle was spotted going eastbound on Highway 17 around Cobden. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle south of the town, but the driver fled and continued eastbound. Police say the vehicle maintained a high speed and swerved into the westbound lane. They say the vehicle left the road near Renfrew and rolled over onto its roof.

The lone driver was transported from the scene by Renfrew County Paramedics and was airlifted to an Ottawa Hospital. The driver’s injuries are said to be not life threatening. A 33 year old from Petawawa has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and flight from police. He will appear at a later date in court in Pembroke for a bail hearing.
