Four Drivers Nabbed for Stunt Driving in One Day

Highway 17 was a hotspot for speedsters on Sunday.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP reported four drivers on Highway 17 stunt driving in Laurentian Valley Township. The charge is laid when a driver is caught going 50 kilometers an hour over the speed limit.

The drivers were clocked going 144 and 142 kilometers an hour along the highway, which has a speed limit of 90. A 58 year old from Laurentian valley, a 24 year old from Sucker Creek First Nation, a 31 year old from Patterson Township and a 35 year old were all charged under the Highway Traffic Act. All four drivers were issued a summons to appear in court in Pembroke. They also had their licences suspended for seven days and their vehicles towed and impounded for a week.
