The township will be collecting hazardous waste for residents this weekend.

Madawaska Valley Township will hold a collection on Saturday August 24th. The dropoff will be going down at the Paul J Yakabuski Community Center at the Yard 1 Municipal garage in Barry’s Bay. The event is only open to residents of the Madawaska Valley.

The township says they will accept Aerosol containers, flammables, portable fire extinguishers, and toxic materials. They will also collect oil containers, fertilizers, reactive materials or cold-cathode florescent lamps. They say to pack items securely in your vehicle and avoid mixing or spillage. Hazardous waste will be accepted free of charge. They also remind residents to put hazardous liquids in non-returnable containers.

The township also says a number of items will not be accepted. These things include PCB contaminated waste, explosives, and radioactive, pathological, medical or commercial and industrial waste. If a waste type is unknown, it will not be accepted.
