The Town of Renfrew has too much Manganese in its water.
According to a report from the Development and Works Committee in Renfrew, the town got a lower rating on their inspection of the water.
The quality of water was rated at 99.5, but overall their rating fell to 91 percent.
The issue needs to be addressed so the town can remain in compliance with provincial standards.
According to a 2010 study, elevated manganese in drinking water can lead to increased intellectual impairment and reduced IQ in school-age children.
However, if exposure is stopped, the body can recover.
