New Charges for Bancroft Drug Traffickers, Includes Firearm, Explosives Offenses

A warrant executed last week has lead to a string of new charges.

Bancroft OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit, along with the Emergency Response Team and the Tactics and Rescue units executed a warrant at a residence on Woodview Lane last Thursday. OPP seized a quantity of drugs including crystal meth, cocaine, morphine, percostet and a variety of other illegal drugs. The force says they also recovered paraphernalia associated with drug trafficking, cell phones, a vehicle and three firearms with ammunition. The OPP now says that stolen firearms and explosives have also been found at the scene.

As a result of the search warrant, seven people were arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Justin Sleeper, Cody Sleeper, Richard Bowran, Lacy King, Rosealie Barnes, Shayne Menard and Amanda Hudson have all be charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. In addition, Justin and Cody Sleeper have been charged with a slew of counts, including trafficking a firearm, break and enter to steal a firearm, and possession of explosives with the intent to endanger life. Bowran, Barnes and King have been charged with a number of crimes, including possession of a stolen firearm, possession with a substance with the intent to endanger life, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Menard is additionally charged with failure to comply with an undertaking and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

All except for Bowran have been held pending a bail hearing. Bowran was released on a promise to appear in court. OPP says despite the new charges, the investigation is ongoing.
