Camp Fires will be allowed as the Madawaska Valley Fire Department drops its fire ban to Level 1.
A rainy week allowed for some fires to be safe to burn in the township. Fireworks, camp fires, and BBQ’s will be allowed effective immediately. Fires must still be lit in a designated fire pit. Still prohibited is any type of controlled burning. Fire permits will not be issued while the Level 1 ban is in effect.
The Fire Department is still urging people to keep water close by to douse your fire. They also remind people to make sure their fire is completely doused before leaving it to avoid starting bush fires.
