Two new forest fires are burning in areas around Algonquin Park.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry say a fire in South Algonquin Township is less than an acre in size and has since been put under control. The ministry says it started on Monday evening. The fire is located near Major Lake just off Major Lake Road, close to the power lines.
A second, smaller fire is being held in Algonquin Park near Thunder Lake. The ministry said that fire started on Monday evening as well.
This is the third forest fire this year for the area.
