In order to help a highway rehabilitation project in Hastings Highlands, Bancroft council has voted in favour of writing a letter of support.
Hastings Highlands is looking to the provincial government for funding to help fix a stretch of Highway 62 from Maynooth to Combermere, and has asked Bancroft council to show its support for the project.
Bancroft Mayor Bernice Jenkins says she is pleased to show her support for a neighbouring community, as most North Hastings residents don’t see the invisible lines that divide them.
Jenkins says it is clear the province needs to step up, and help rural communities with infrastructure projects.
Hastings Highlands estimates, on a daily basis, over 3,500 vehicles travel along the portion of Highway 62 in question.
