Truck Theft in Petawawa Leads to Multiple Charges

A theft of a vehicle has lead to multiple charges for a Pembroke Man.

A call was put out to OPP on Saturday that a pickup truck was stolen from a home in Petawawa. Officers later responded to reports of a vehicle driving erratically nearby that matched the description of the truck. The man was apprehended and the vehicle searched, leading police to multiple stolen items. Mail, a wallet, keys and other items had been taken that night from many other parked vehicles. The driver was also suspected of being impaired and police ordered a drug test on the accused.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old male from Pembroke, has been charged with multiple counts of theft. One count was for property obtained by crime over $5000, with five other counts of theft under $5000. He is also charged with five counts of trespassing, impairment by drug, driving while disqualified, and three counts of failing to comply with probation. The male was released from custody and has a court date on August 13th.
