Upper Ottawa OPP has changed the fee for Criminal Background Checks.

The fee for a criminal record check for employment purposes is now $41. They say criminal record checks can take 6 to 8 weeks. OPP reminds the public that payment can only be made in cash with the exact amount. They say there is no fee for those who require a criminal record check for volunteer purposes but they must supply a letter of confirmation from the agency they are volunteering with. OPP also says that their detachment offices at Petawawa and Prembroke only accept and return background checks on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8am and 4pm.

To get a criminal record check, people are required to present two forms of identification, one of which must be photo ID. Accepted ID includes a Driver’s licence, birth certificate, valid passport or an outdoors card. SIN and health cards are not accepted.
