Purchase of CP Rail Line In Final Stages

Renfrew and Lanark County will be meeting this week for the ongoing discussion for the acquisition of an abandoned CP rail line.
The 300 kilometer stretch was decommissioned by CP in 2010 and was announced for sale.
The two counties have been working to purchase the stretch since 2011.
The final agreement between the counties and CP Rail is expected to be announced in April.
The 300 kilometer corridor runs between Smiths Falls and Mattawa, with over 200 kilometers cutting through Renfrew County.
