Level 1 Burn Ban Issued for Madawaska Valley

Burning will be heavily restricted as the temperatures rise this weekend.

A level 1 fire ban has been issued for the Madawaska Valley, according the Madawaska Valley Fire Department. Bush fires or controlled burning will be strictly prohibited for the next couple of days. The department will not issue any burn permits during the ban to keep the risk of fire as low as possible. Fines will be levied for unauthorized burning.

The department still allows for campfires, stone pits and certified outdoor fire place. The Department urges burners to have water on hand at all time to control fires, and to make sure fires are properly doused. Use of fireworks is also allowed if you follow proper safety precautions.
