Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant will be in Barry’s Bay to help constituents with federal form issues.

MP Gallant says she will hold a Constituency Clinic at the Madawaska Valley Municipal Office on July 18th.  She says she hopes to help constituents with passport applications, tax credits, and other federal programs or services. Gallant says sometimes individuals and families change their address, lose contact with the federal government, don’t have the forms or the forms weren’t processed properly. Gallant and her staff would sit down with constituents to make sure documents are in order and, in the case of receiving money from the government, that tax returns are submitted properly. She also helps with passport renewals, which Gallant says can be a headache for mixed families.

Gallant says she offers help with a variety of services and returns. She adds that sometimes not everyone knows what programs they can be eligible for. She says she can help people file for disability tax credit if their disability stops them from working. She also says there is a guaranteed income supplement for people working below a certain level of income. She also helps seniors apply for old age security. On family tax credits, she says in the past she has helped families receive tens of thousands in back payment by filing the form properly.

The clinic lasts from 1-3 PM on the 18th. Gallant says constituents can be in and out in 5-10 minutes depending on the complexity of the issue. She also takes this time to connect with constituents to hear their issues to plan for the next sitting session in parliament.
