Barry’s Bay Triathlon went down on Sunday.

60 runners from Ontario and beyond showed up to compete in the event. The event started with a 750 meter swim along Kamaniskeg Lake. The bikers then traveled 32 K up highway 60 around Aylen Lake and back, and capped it off with a run around Lakeshore drive. A duathlon also took place that replaced the swim with a 2 kilometer run. Police and Paramedics were on hand to assist with the race, as well as a number of volunteers.

Organizer Faith Archer said there were volunteers at many points in the race directing participants, with sometimes even the Paramedics biking along. With the help of the people SportStats, Archer said that the participants could be tracked in real time. They could also check their times once the race was over as well as helping with tech throughout the race. A BBQ and prizing was available after the race was over.

Fort Perry’s Ben Snider-McGrath won the Triathlon with a time of 1 hour and 40 minutes. He was followed by James Young of Ottawa and Brennan Pilgrim from Petawawa.
