Killaloe OPP received reports of fraud in South Algonquin Township last week.

The force received calls last Tuesday and Saturday. In both cases, the victims received requests for credit card verification and information. Personal information in both cases was shared and as a result, the information was compromised.

Police remind the community to never give personal information over the phone. They ask that you confirm the source and identity of the caller before you share personal information. They say to resist being pressured by a fraudulent caller and to hang up the phone if they persist. OPP Reminds people that a legitimate company already has your personal information and will not call to request it again. For more information on how to spot, resist and report fraud, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit them on their website.

Last week, Killaloe OPP recieved a total of 97 calls for service.
