Dangerous Driving Charge on Highway 17

A Montreal man has been arrested for dangerous driving in Pembroke.

Officers of Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to calls on June 22nd around 6:30 PM. They responded to reports of a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner on Highway 17 through Laurentian Valley. Officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to pull over. During the incident, one OPP cruiser was forced off the road and multiple cruisers were struck. The cruisers sustained damage but no injuries were reported. The vehicle was stopped just west of Paul Martin Drive in Pembroke and the driver was arrested.

The investigation resulted in a 38 year old being charged under the criminal code. He is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop after accident and flight from a peace officer. The accused had a bail hearing on June 23rd.
