Attempted Armed Robbery at Pembroke Convenience Store

An armed robbery was foiled by an employee of a Pembroke convenience store.

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to a call the evening of June 3rd. The attempted robbery happened on the 600 block of Mackay Street. The suspect entered the store with a weapon and fled after an altercation with the store clerk. The clerk was not harmed and the man fled on foot.

OPP responded with their Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit but were unable to locate the male suspect at the time. The suspect was apprehended by the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit and arrested on June 6th. The 31 year old Ottawa man was taken into custody pending charges. He will be held for a bail hearing Friday.

UPDATE: A32-year-old from Pembroke has been charged with Robbery with a weapon among other charges. He will make an appearance in a Pembroke court on June 10th.
