Renfrew is hoping to get funding from the Connecting Links program that has been reinstated by the provincial government.
The program is designed to help communities pay for construction and repair costs to municipal roads that connect communities to provincial highways and border crossings.
The initiative was dropped four years ago and left many communities struggling to keep their infrastructure maintained.
Renfrew is applying for the maximum $3 million amount to upgrade Main Street.
The full cost of the project will be $6 million.
