New resources are coming to Ontario’s first responders for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The province says first responders, like police, firefighters and paramedics are twice as likely to suffer from PTSD.
This is due to regular exposure to stressful and traumatic situations.
The province says it is putting out a prevention strategy, which consists of four main elements.
It will be creating a radio and digital campaign mean to raise awareness for PTSD in first responders.
Leaders and best practices will be highlighted during an annual summit hosted by the Minister of Labour.
Online support tools are being developed to help employers and all first-responder sectors.
Grants for research into PTSD are also being made available.
