Madawaska Coffee Company Opens its Doors

The Madawaska Coffee Company has a brand new location.

The company opened its doors this Bay Day with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new shop is located on the corner of Opeongo Line and Dunn Street. Co-owners Neil and Sarah Wright were on site as well as Mayor Kim Love.

The new location will complement the existing roasting house. This way the company can continue its wholesale operations. The Wrights say that it’s helpful should the store run out of coffee to have the location so close by. The coffee also is much fresher that way. The wholesale side of the business helps the company get through the slower months when not as many tourists visit the Bay area.

Madawaska Coffee Company was founded in 2011 and started off as a whole-seller, roasting the coffee in-house. Neil Wright said one of the challenges of expanding the operation was getting coffee to different markets. There are buyers for the coffee all across Eastern Ontario. Online sales of their coffee have reached as far as Germany, Poland and New Zealand. The Wrights say that people come to the area, discover their store, and want to take a piece of the Valley home with them.

Neil and Sarah both say they are exhausted but excited.
