Drivers could find themselves in a dangerous situation.

That’s coming from the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP who are warning the public that tampering with traffic cones or other traffic safety devices can lead to criminal charges.

The warning comes after it was reported that traffic cones went missing in Palmer Rapids this week. They say traffic safety devices like cones warns drivers of washouts, sinkholes and road closures. They add that removing them puts the public in danger.

Police say that anyone caught tampering with traffic safety devices can be charged for mischief and theft.

Anyone with information surrounding such activity is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at www.valleytips.ca.
