Unnecessary Noise Could Cost You, Says OPP

Don’t rev your engine too loudly.

The OPP are warning motorists that they’ll be listening to make sure you’re not creating any unnecessary noise this summer.

Constable Tina Hunt says they’ve been receiving multiple complaints and wants you to be aware that it’s bothersome. “As members of the public, just be cognizant that whether you’re adding a muffler or have a muffler that’s not working properly, noise can bother residents in the area” she says.

Hunt adds that on top of loud mufflers, unnecessary honking and loud music could also be a reason to lay a charge. In terms of volume level, she says that it’s at an officers discretion to judge if it’s too loud.
