The township is bracing for issues related to flood waters.

A special council meeting was held Sunday according to the Township of Madawaska Valley. The meeting was called to discuss a flood and road condition update. At the meeting it was confirmed that roads are being monitored and repaired as issues arise.

Two specific areas were brought up during the meeting including Paugh Lake Road and Wilno North Road. At the meeting, staff and council discussed that quick intervention will be needed on Wilno North Road. Council passed a resolution approving costs associated with acquiring and installing a temporary portable metal bridge to ensure access for residents.

The meeting did also bring up the issues faced during the 2017 flood season and it was confirmed by officials at the meeting that the township is well below the issues experienced in 2017 and Operations had no grave concerns.
