The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care plans on reducing 52 land ambulance services to 10 through restructuring.

Chief Paramedic for County of Renfrew Paramedic Services, Michael Nolan, says that although the government’s plan isn’t clear yet, he’s committed to making sure the change doesn’t have a negative impact on residents.

“We know paramedics deliver critical services to our community and we want to make sure the government understands that” and adds that the County will make sure the Province knows that the community’s needs are at the forefront of whatever the change may bring.

Nolan says that “with change comes opportunity” but it also comes with uncertainty. As a board member of Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs, he’ll make sure that Renfrew County’s voice is heard should the restructuring impact residents in a negative way.
