The region welcomes a new physician recruiter.

The Joint Municipal Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee says that their goal’s to hire a physician recruiter to work on their behalf to attract physicians to practice at the St Francis Memorial Hospital. The committee is made up and financially supported by five local municipalities. Those are Madawaska Valley Township, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards, North Algona Wilberforce, South Algonquin Township and Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan.

Mayor of South Algonquin Township and Chair of the Committee, Jane Dumas, says we’re lucky to have a vibrant multi-disciplinary health care system in Madawaska Valley and that without a recruiter, it would be a lot more difficult.

The new Physician Recruiter, a Barry’s Bay resident, Taflyn Jansen, was appointed earlier today. She comes to us with a background of working in Human Resources and the Health and Safety field.

Mayor Dumas, on behalf of the Committee, would also like to thank former recruiter, Melissa Botz. Dumas, says the history of physician commitment to health care here is evident. She also adds a thank you to recent and future physician retirees who have been pillars to rural medicine.

The news was confirmed today at Madawaska Valley Township’s Council meeting by CAO/Clerk Sue Klatt. Alas, welcome Taflyn!
