A projected deficit is in the books for the Pembroke Regional Hospital.
This would be the first ever shortfall for the hospital, which is expected to be $400,000Â for the 2016/2017 fiscal year.
The deficit represents a very small fraction of the hospital’s $83 million annual budget.
In a press release, the hospital’s CEO, Pierre Noel says the hospital needs to provide comprehensive, high quality care to the community.
He hopes that the shortfall will trigger a discussion about how to better balance the budget.
