The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP has released a statement saying that a part of Highway 17, between Pembroke and Cobden, was closed due to a serious collision that happened on Thursday April 11, a little before noon.

The OPP were on scene and say that the collision involved a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer unit (carrying a load of lumber). The drivers of both vehicles were the lone occupants. The OPP say that they both had to be extricated from their vehicles and were then transported to the hospital by land ambulance. They add that they are both suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the highway was closed for three hours, and that one lane was reopened. They state that the truck still lays in the ditch as they are cleaning up the scene. Motorists are advised to expect delays while the lane reduction is in place. The OPP says the highway is expected to be fully open by early evening. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
