The Province is coming to the aid of North Algona Wilberforce Township (NAWT).

The Township suffered heavy rainfalls that led to overland flooding and high-water levels in the Bonnechere River in April of 2017. The government says it will help by providing financial support through Ontario’s Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance program.

They say NAWT could receive up to $70 000 to help repair municipal infrastructures such as roads and a boat dock damaged by the flood.

Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing says that the program is a way to help municipalities that need it most. Clark also wanted to thank the volunteers and emergency responders who helped keep their community safe during the flood.
