Discover the ins and outs of how to plan for the future of a disabled family member.

Planning facilitator for Citizen Advocacy, Ruth Ann Moore, says that on April 8th, families will have the chance to learn about certain financial and legal options that are available for people with disabilities.

She says the conference will include a presentation by Richard Ballance, Senior Advisor of the Canada Disability Savings Program at Employment and Social Development Canada. She also says that Associate Lawyer and Notary, Natalie Sanna will speak about wills, estates and trusts. She says audience members will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

Moore adds that the event will educate family members on the financial options available to people with disabilities, especially those pertaining to Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). As she says, “family members work so hard, they fight for everything” and adds that as family members grow older, if they have an adult child who has a disability, making sure their future is secure is very important.

The conference will be held at Madawaska Valley Association for Community Living in Barry’s Bay on April 8th. Mr. Ballance will speak at 9:30 AM and Natalie Sanna will present at 1:00 PM. Admission is free and lunch and refreshments will be served. Attendees must attend. To register, please call Helene Courschesne at 1-866-222-2138 ext.229.
