Get your green clothes ready for Saturday afternoon.

The Madawaska Valley Lions’ Club and the Barry’s Bay Royal Legion are coming together to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with their Annual St Patties Fundraising Dance.

President of the MV Lions’ Club, Greg Kelly, says that the afternoon shindig will include a lot of live entertainment and a light brunch. He says there will also be a best dressed competition (best costume and best dressed couple).

This will be the Club’s 7th annual St Patties Day Dance and Kelly says that for a 7th time, his brothers, Mike and Paul, along with his sister Grace will be performing. He adds that there will be many other performers including a comeback from the singing group, the Madawaska Valley High School Minstrels. He says the group was put together by former Madawaska Valley District High School teacher, Jim Haskins.

Last year he says there were about 140 people in attendance and all of the feedback was positive. “It’s nice to represent the Valley’s Irish Heritage but it’s not just for the Irish, it’s to have a good afternoon and shoot the breeze”.

He says the fundraiser starts at noon on Saturday at the Barry’s Bay Legion. Admission is $20 per person and tickets are available at the door. Proceeds will be going to the Madawaska Valley Lions’ Club and the Barrys Bay Legion.
