Yakabuski Stands Behind Police Officers

The Province is standing by its police officers.

John Yakabuski, MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, announced that the Province wants to fix the previous government’s Bill 175 by adopting the Comprehensive Ontario Police Services Act. Yakabuski says the goal of the act is to reduce delays in Special Investigations Unit (SIU) cases. He says that the old act made it difficult for officers to do their jobs because SIU delays would labour on for months and years.

He says that with the Comprehensive Ontario Police Services Act officers won’t feel undermined and it will give them the chance to do their jobs. Yakabuski adds that when it’s all said and done, their priority is public safety.
