Ford Government criticizes Hydro One CEO salary proposal
The Ford Government is taking aim at Hydro One once again.
The utility company is proposing a $2.7 million salary for its new CEO, which is drawing criticism from provincial officials who are want to see it cut by over a million. However, the board doesn’t seem to be listening as it ignored a Thursday afternoon deadline to slice the salary. Former boss Mayo Schmidt was making $6.2 million before he was pushed out last year after Doug Ford took office.
Police discover body of girl involved in Amber Alert
An 11-year-old girl at the heart of an Amber Alert is dead.
The child was reported missing from Brampton and the Amber Alert was issued overnight with police indicating her father may have abducted her. Her body was found at a home in Brampton and her father was arrested.
Basic income pilot can’t be saved by the Superior Court
Ontario’s basic income pilot cannot be salvaged by the courts.
A panel of three judges with the Superior Court said it wasn’t able reverse a decision by the Ford Government to cancel the pilot. The Liberal-created program provided a living-wage to Ontarians who weren’t currently employed.
