Highway 41 was closed for three hours after multiple vehicles collided.

On Friday, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to 20 motor vehicle collisions in the Upper Ottawa Valley Area. Constable Shawn Peever says that the majority of the collisions happened in the afternoon. One of them involved 7 vehicles on Highway 41 and although five people were transported to the hospital, fortunately no one was seriously injured.

With Tuesday and Wednesday’s snow storm, he advises drivers to be extra careful. He says that residents are encouraged to stay home and avoid driving if they can. He says that anyone who must drive should take extra precautions and make sure clear off their vehicles (including head lights, tail lights and signal lights).

Peever says that motorists should be aware of open fields that increases blowing winds and could reduce your visibility. He adds that motorists should always stay alert, slow down and stay in control.
