Walking on thin ice might mean you’re walking on thin ice.

OPP Constable Catherine Yarmel says that the last few days’ drastic changes in temperature is making ice conditions unpredictable. She wants everyone to be cautious.

She says the OPP are reminding the community to be aware of the changing ice conditions. Yarmel says you shouldn’t travel on ice alone and that you should let someone know of where you’re going if you do.

She also emphasizes the fact that anyone participating in winter sports such as snowmobiling and ice fishing, will need to check ice surfaces beforehand to ensure it’s safe.

Yarmel adds that being aware and taking precautions is the best way to make sure you’re putting safety first.
