Arnprior and Petawawa will each be receiving $500 000 to fund public transit projects.

The Ontario Government has announced that 39 municipalities will be receiving a combined 30-million-dollars from the Ontario Community Transportation Grant Program. Funds will be allocated through the next five years.

In Renfrew County, two municipalities will be receiving funds to improve their transit system. Petawawa will receive $499 800 and Arnprior will get $500 000.

Petawawa Mayor, Bob Sweet, says that his plan is to develop a door-to-door transportation service to meet the needs of the town’s more vulnerable residents.

Minister of Transportation, Jeff Yurek, says that they want Ontarians to stay connected to their communities so the funding will make it easier for them to attend work, appointments or social events.
