Renfrew County hospitals will be receiving close to $5 million in funding for repair and maintenance upgrades.

John Yakabuski, MPP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, says that the five-million-dollars will be handed out through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF).

Within his riding, he says all five hospitals will be receiving funding:

St. Francis Memorial Hospital – $524 758
Pembroke Regional Hospital – $2 403 393
Renfrew Victoria Hospital – $1 128 184
Arnprior Regional Health – $343 461
Deep River and District Hospital – $544 722

He points out that hospitals are always going to need upgrades and that it’s a big win that out of 128 hospitals getting funding in the Province, all five in his riding were approved.

When it comes to Barry’s Bay, he says the hospital was built a couple of years after he was born and is special to him because his dad used to be Vice President of the board when it opened. He adds that residents of Barry’s Bay are very proud to have a hospital and the half a million dollar funding will be an asset to the hospital and the area.
