Bonnechere Valley Township is moving forward with the plan to upgrade McGrath Road by 2017.
The first stage of applying for a Small Community Grant has been successful, and now they are submitting a more detailed proposal.
If approved, 2/3 of the plan, or more than $5 million will be covered by provincial and federal governments.
The plan is to widen the 12.5 kilometer stretch to allow active transportation on the road.
Council just recently approved the design work, and hope for construction to be under way by 2017.
