Dive in with Renfrew County Animal Centre

The Renfrew County Animal Centre of the Ontario SPCA wants you to dive in with them.

Heather Jobe, Community Development Coordinator, says that their First Annual Polar Bear Plunge event is here to raise funds for your local animal shelter. She says plungers will be able to collect pledges and donate them to the Renfrew County Animal Centre. In return, they will have to take a refreshing dip in Catwalk Pond in Petawawa. Jobe says donations will be accepted in every form of payment and a tax receipt can be given out to any donations that exceed $10.

She says a hot tub, hot chocolate and pizza will be available to those brave enough to take the plunge. The event will include safety divers to make sure everyone is safe. She says the fiesta is also part of the Cabin Fever Festival of Petawawa, who will have people on site to add to the atmosphere.

As of last week, she says over 30 participants were already registered. Those participants don’t include animals though. She mentions that animals are welcomed but they are not allowed to plunge. She says the same about people under 16 years of age. Participants can sign up on the spot and dress up as they wish and says it should be a cold, but fun afternoon.
