The new legislation that came into effect January 1st is causing some confusion with drivers.
According to the new laws, a driver must allow a pedestrian to completely cross the road before the driver can proceed.
OPP Constable Catherine Yarmel tells Moose FM News that the new rules do not apply to cross walks at intersections where there are traffic lights or a stop sign, unless there is a crossing guard present.
She also says that fines for drivers that commit offences at cross walks or school crossings range from 150 to 500 dollars as well as 3 demerit points.
