A fitness program for all ages is coming to Barry’s Bay.

Norma Woods, personal trainer and retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces is bringing a fitness class to the Paul J Yakabuski Community Centre come January. She says her field of expertise in the Army was fitness and physical recreation. Having her personal trainer accreditation, she says she’ll be there to help anyone through the program.

As a fitness expert, Woods says she got the idea of starting fitness classes when she moved to the Valley 3 years ago. She says she noticed that there weren’t too many options in the Madawaska Valley and that people kept complaining about it, but nothing would ever change. The program first saw the light of day in Palmer Rapids and soon got the participation of many Barry’s Bay residents, which is why she decided to start one here.

She says the program will combine cardio and muscular training and adds that the class is open to all ages and that everyone can go at their own pace.

Classes are on Monday and Wednesdays at 7:00 PM for 8 weeks starting on January 14. The cost is $125 for all of the classes or $10 to drop in to one class. To register call 613-583-7971.
