Yield if you see a flashing green light on a car’s dashboard.
Fire Chief of Madawaska Valley Township Fire Department, Corwin Quade says you should be courteous to volunteer firefighters.
He says there are 35 fire fighters in total between the Barry’s Bay and Combermere department and adds that if you see a green flashing light, pull over and yield right away. He also told us that firefighters use the light in serious cases and that it’s important for drivers to know that when it comes to fighting fire, every second counts.
He says the light can usually be seen from half of a kilometer away. Quade does add that they still have to follow regular traffic rules.
