The OPP want you to keep your possessions safe this holiday season.
They sent out a release reminding you that while you shop about, criminals come out. Their Lock It or Lose It campaign is reminding you to protect your vehicle and reduce the chances of being a victim of theft.
In order to protect your vehicle and its contents, the OPP gives the following tips:
-Always roll up your windows and lock the doors.
-In public, park in a well-lit area.
-If you have a garage, use it and lock it as well as your vehicle.
-Never leave valuable objects in full view, put them in the trunk.
-Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.
The OPP says that officers will be out and about and may examine parked vehicles in public areas. They may also place a notice on your vehicle pointing out if further safety precautions could have been taken in order to protect it from theft.
