Two homes were destroyed after a fire erupted in Eganville.
The Bonnechere Valley Fire Department says flames first broke out at a two-story home on John Street around 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters from both stations in the township were called to battle the flames.
The first home ended up being destroyed and high winds caused the flames to spread to the house next door.
After being on the scene for 12 hours, crews returned to their departments but John Street remained closed.
Mutual aid was called in from North Algona Wilberforce’s stations in Golden Lake and Rankin.
Reports say that the first fire erupted in the house belonging to well-known community members Steve and Jackie Agnew. What caused the fire is still unknown. A Facebook page was started to come to the aid of the families involved, click here to find out more.
