Combermere’s Mission House Museum and Gallery are having their annual general meeting Monday afternoon.

Curator of the museum, Dave Kelley, plans to give residents a run down of how the 2018 season went. He said that in the past year they have added 6 heritage walk plaques bringing it to a total of 17 for the town. Along with last year’s accomplishments, he plans on letting the public know what they have planned for next season. He also says they are looking for board members and volunteers to help out at the museum this upcoming season, especially for Combermere’s new tourist information booth.

The museum is home to about 50 stories from the Combermere area that dates back to the 1850’s Kelley says. He adds that visitors from 10 provinces, 28 states and 36 countries have stepped food in the museum since it opened in 2005. Kelley, a generous and interesting man, goes on and says that the museum is important for the community as it shows the history of the area that many people aren’t aware of. He continues by saying that Al Capone had a hideout spot in the region and A.Y Jackson painted many of his masterpieces here. As thousands flock over to the museum each year, he’s proud to show the public in which direction it’s going. The annual general meeting is taking place Monday afternoon at the Combermere Community Centre, at 1:30.
