Monetize your writing skills!

The Pembroke Public Library is opening its doors to all authors or aspiring authors with their short story contest. Programming & outreach coordinator of the library, Janet Morel, says that if you live in Renfrew County and you’re 18 years of age or older, this is for you.

The theme is “Memories of the Valley” which will ask authors to write a 1000-1500 word historical or personal non-fiction story about the Ottawa Valley.

Stories must be submitted digitally before December 15th. The contest will be judged by selected members of the library’s staff. Those stories will then be reviewed by Burnstown Publishing House who will then choose the winners. The first prize is a $100 gift certificate at Burnstown Publishing House and the 2nd and 3rd prizes will receive a similar gift card with the amount of $50. Morel says the winners will be announced in the New Year and the winning stories should be published on the library’s website.

Visit the Pembroke Public Library’s website for your chance to show off your best Ottawa Valley story.
