Donations That Warm The Heart

Frosty the snowman isn’t the only one that needs to be dressed up this winter. So do many children in the Renfrew County.

The Child Poverty Action Network of Renfrew County (CPAN) is looking for your donations with their initiative called Operation Snowsuit.

Executive director of CPAN, Lyn Smith says that Operation Snowsuit is a program designed to help low income families provide winter wear for their kids. Items such as hats, gloves, snowsuits and winter boots are all items that CPAN collect in order to donate them to children in need. She says that they have a lot of baby apparel but are hurting when it comes to winter wear in the size 5 to 18 category (for kids).

Last year, the program helped 489 children to stay warm over the winter which was a 25% increase of the previous year. Smith is very proud when mentioning that they are on track to shatter last year’s numbers as they have already helped 359 children this year, in two weeks alone.

If you would like to donate, you can do so at the CPAN headquarters in Pembroke and many other different locations throughout the county. If you need access to the program or would like more information on how to donate, visit the CPAN website here.
