Look out for the fire rating sign on your drive to the Madawaska Valley as you now have the green light to burn.

Fire Chief of the Madawaska Valley Township Fire Department, Corwin Quade, informs us that the fire rating is now green which means burning is allowed.

He mentions that from November 1st to April 1st, you can build a fire 24 hours a day with no permit needed, but you need to be able to control it, or else, it might cost you.

He states that you need to be responsible in controlling your fire, or a recovery cost could be handed to you if the fire department needs to be called. He also states that you should, however, not be afraid to call because, should a fire get out of control, it could really cost you.

Chief Quade says that residents should make sure they have a way to extinguish a fire before starting it. He alerts everyone that things might not be as wet as you think. He suggests always having a hose, a pale of water or an extinguisher close by.
