Bring Your Books To Hunt

Students might want to bring their books with them while they hunt.

Hunting season starts next week and as tradition has it, in many families of the Madawaska Valley, students will be taking an absence from school. Although students will be away, Jonathan Laderoute, communications manager for the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) says “it’s business as usual”.

Laderoute says that the RCDSB sees great value in the fact that many students will be able to spend time with their families and that hunting is a part of the community’s heritage, but the show must go on.

If certain students take a prolonged absence, Laderoute mentions that it’s important that they get an education plan setup to make sure they keep up with their school work. He states that no special accommodations will be given and that it’s up to the parents and teachers to notify the school of a child’s absence so they can maximize their efforts to make sure the student is on track when they come back.
