The Barry’s Bay Information Centre has just been honoured. They have received the OHvation Designation award given by the Ontario Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO). Stephanie Plebon, recreation and community development coordinator for the Township of Madawaska Valley is rejoiced when mentioning “it’s wonderful for our area to be recognized”. Plebon isn’t shy to say that the accolades should go to the fantastic students that were part of the staff this year. She states that the award was taken into consideration after a secret shopper for the OHTO came in to the information centre. This secret shopper reported that it had received the kind of service that created a quality and memorable experience which exceeded expectations.

Plebon, along with other staff members will be present at the Ontario Highlands Tourism Summit in Haliburton on October 29th. Along with the Barry’s Bay Information Centre, 13 other centres received the honour. Some of these centres include: the Arnprior & District Museum, the Cobden Visitor Information Centre, the Eganville Visitor Information Centre and the Renfrew Downtown Information Centre. Plebon mentions that she thinks the award will be coming back to Barry’s Bay next year as well.
