The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is warning people that despite this weekend’s expected snowfall in the Madawaska Valley, it’s too early to start sledding.
The group asks snowmobilers to keep their sleds parked and to stay off OFSC trails for now.
The group says poor conditions can make even short snowmobile rides dangerous, as the ground, waterways and swamps aren’t yet frozen.
There is not enough snow to protect your sled from rough terrains or other obstacles, and as a result, all trails run by the federation are still closed.
Some of the OFSC’s local members include the Opeongo Snowbirds Snowmobile Club and the Peterson Pathfinders Snowmobile Club.
